What the name describes
Joint use requires checking the name, formulation and manufacturer’s instructions for that specific intra-articular application. ‘Salmon polynucleotides’ does not describe every product — the origin is preparation-specific.
What the evidence says
Small clinical studies of particular polynucleotide and hyaluronic acid combinations report pain and function outcomes in knee osteoarthritis. They do not establish cartilage regrowth or the effects of every preparation.
Assessment and safety
The physician checks the diagnosis, intended purpose, contraindications and allergies. In addition to injection risks, the limitations and risks of the specific preparation need to be explained.
